Thank you for visiting this webpage. The link between imported furniture-flooring and deforestation-global warming has not gained media attention yet. For example, most people are unaware that up to 90% of the imported furniture and flooring in our homes comes from illegally harvested wood, logged mainly from the rainforest. Fifty-four of our planet's 193 countries have lost 90% or more of their original forest cover. By purchasing sustainable eco furniture from Vermont Woods Studios, you are helping to preserve the world's forests for future generations, and encouraging the further development and deployment of sustainable forestry practices throughout Vermont and all over the world. You are actively contributing to the conservation of some of the world's most beautiful and beneficial resources, all the while finding the perfect addition to the landscape of your home.
Certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
At Vermont Woods Studios, we know the future of our company lives in the forest. We therefore practice environmental stewardship not only because we love their natural beauty and wish to protect it at all costs, but also because we will be in business for generations to come. By working with organizations like the Forest Stewardship Council, and taking great care that our methods and materials remain sustainable, we are ensuring that years from now, when your great grandchildren decide to acquire another Vermont Woods Studios table to match the ones you have handed down to them, our company will still be here with the same core values and fine standards of craftsmanship we have today.
Gifts of the Rainforest
We realize that there are forests all over the world beyond our own— each with beautiful woods to offer—that need our help. We love to accent our Vermont maple products with contrasting rainforest woods, like mahogany and purpleheart. We use these woods with the awareness that they too are in need of protection. The Forest Stewardship Council has certified us for our commitment to sustainably harvested woods and we are especially careful to understand the origin and forest management practices of these exotics sources. Earlier this year, we traveled to the rainforests of Panama to see for ourselves the difference the FSC is making in Central America and to begin to establish links with companies that share our values. Recently we have partnered with the people of LaChonta in Bolivia to be able to offer several 100% FSC certified pieces of Garden and Patio furniture, constructed of the finest quality Amazon Rainforest hardwoods.
Making a Brighter World
A portion of the proceeds from each sale will be donated to the World Wildlife Fund and other non-profit associations to help protect the forests and the endangered species that find their home in them.
