PHILLIP
Phillip Odegard began his career in woodworking as a builder of tree houses at about the age of six. He began working as a carpenter, and built his first house, in 1979. During his house building career he participated in the construction of many dwellings including a passive solar Victorian house, a winery, and a postmodern dwelling containing virtually no right angles.

Over the years he has taken every opportunity to study many other types of woodworking, making some of the likely choices, such as cabinetry, and others not so likely, such as architectural woodworking and harpsichord building in Boston in the 1990’s.

Since 1999 he has been crafting his elegant furniture and cabinetry from a small shop deep in a slice of Vermont woods.

"I enjoy making furniture that respects the Shaker ideal of understatement. I believe that attention to proportion, traditional joinery, and the beauty of the wood itself speak most truthfully about the work."
